Energy Efficient Windows

Energy Efficient Windows

Energy efficient windows are designed to keep heat inside the home in winter and outside the home in summer. This reduces heating and cooling costs, minimizes energy consumption that impacts the environment, and limits the size of the HVAC equipment required for keeping the home comfortable. Health-E Community Enterprises of Virginia, Inc. installs energy efficient vinyl framed windows in all of its homes.

Vinyl is energy efficient, durable, rot proof, insect proof and weather resistant. Vinyl is made with chemicals that inhibit UV-degradation and requires no painting. The windows are also made with low-emissivity (low-e) glass that has a special surface coating to reduce heat transfer through the window. When applied inside a double-pane window, the low-e coating is placed on the outer surface of the inner pane of glass to reflect heat back into the living space during the heating season. This same coating will slightly reduce heat gain during the cooling season.
